Purpose


Bodyfocus Wellness Centre is committed to providing a safe and healthy workplace for employees, contractors, students, patients, and visitors.


This policy establishes the organisation's approach to workplace health and safety and outlines the responsibilities of all personnel in maintaining a safe working environment.



Scope


This policy applies to all employees, contractors, students, volunteers, and other persons engaged by or attending Bodyfocus Wellness Centre.



Policy Statement


Bodyfocus Wellness Centre is committed to:

  • Providing a workplace that is safe and without risks to health, so far as is reasonably practicable.

  • Identifying hazards and managing risks associated with workplace activities.

  • Maintaining safe systems of work.

  • Providing information, training, instruction, and supervision as required.

  • Consulting with workers regarding workplace health and safety matters.

  • Investigating incidents and implementing corrective actions where required.

  • Complying with applicable work health and safety legislation and regulations.

  • Promoting a culture of safety, wellbeing, and continuous improvement.



Responsibilities


Management


Management is responsible for:

  • Providing a safe workplace and safe systems of work.

  • Identifying and managing workplace risks.

  • Ensuring appropriate training and supervision are provided.

  • Maintaining workplace health and safety records.

  • Investigating incidents and implementing corrective actions.

  • Consulting with workers on safety matters.

  • Providing appropriate emergency preparedness arrangements.


Employees and Other Workers


Workers are responsible for:

  • Taking reasonable care for their own health and safety.

  • Taking reasonable care for the health and safety of others.

  • Following workplace policies, procedures, and instructions.

  • Using equipment safely and as intended.

  • Reporting hazards, incidents, injuries, and near misses.

  • Participating in required training and consultation activities.



Hazard Identification


Bodyfocus Wellness Centre is committed to proactively identifying workplace hazards.


Hazards may be identified through:

  • Workplace inspections

  • Incident investigations

  • Employee reports

  • Patient feedback

  • Risk assessments

  • Changes to workplace activities or equipment


Identified hazards should be reported as soon as practicable.



Risk Management


Where hazards are identified, risks will be assessed and appropriate control measures implemented.


Risk controls may include:

  • Eliminating the hazard where reasonably practicable

  • Substituting hazardous processes or equipment

  • Engineering controls

  • Administrative controls

  • Personal protective equipment


The effectiveness of control measures will be reviewed periodically and whenever circumstances change.



Incident Reporting and Investigation


All incidents, injuries, hazards, and near misses must be reported as soon as practicable.


Reported incidents may be investigated to:

  • Determine contributing factors

  • Identify opportunities for improvement

  • Prevent recurrence

  • Ensure compliance with organisational and legislative requirements


Serious incidents may be managed in accordance with the Incident Management Policy and any applicable notification requirements.



Training and Competency


Bodyfocus Wellness Centre will provide workplace health and safety information, instruction, and training appropriate to each role.


Training may include:

  • Workplace induction

  • Emergency procedures

  • Infection prevention and control

  • Manual handling

  • Incident reporting

  • Role-specific safety requirements


Employees are expected to participate in required training and maintain relevant competencies.



Consultation


Bodyfocus Wellness Centre recognises the importance of worker consultation in maintaining a safe workplace.


Workers are encouraged to:

  • Raise safety concerns

  • Report hazards and incidents

  • Contribute suggestions for improvement

  • Participate in safety discussions and reviews


Safety concerns may be raised directly with management at any time.



Emergency Preparedness


Bodyfocus Wellness Centre maintains procedures for responding to emergencies that may affect the workplace, including:

  • Fire and evacuation

  • Medical emergencies

  • Natural disasters

  • Infectious disease outbreaks

  • Other situations that may threaten the safety of people or operations


Emergency arrangements will be reviewed periodically and communicated to relevant personnel.



Monitoring and Continuous Improvement


Workplace health and safety performance will be monitored through activities such as:

  • Incident review

  • Hazard reporting

  • Risk assessments

  • Staff feedback

  • Workplace inspections

  • Policy and procedure review


Where opportunities for improvement are identified, corrective actions will be implemented where appropriate.



Record Keeping


Records relating to workplace health and safety activities, incidents, risk assessments, training, and corrective actions will be maintained in accordance with organisational record-keeping requirements.
