EXERCISE PHYSIOLOGY FAQs
Do i need a referral?
01
No. You can book an appointment with our exercise physiologist without a referral. A referral may be required if you are accessing exercise physiology through a Chronic Disease Management (CDM) plan, Department of Veterans' Affairs (DVA), Workers Compensation or Compulsory Third Party (CTP) insurance claim. If you're unsure whether a referral is needed, our reception team is here to answer any questions before you book.
Can I claim exercise physiology through my private health fund?
02
Yes. Exercise physiology is covered by most private health funds where your level of extras cover includes exercise physiology. Bodyfocus offers HICAPS, allowing eligible claims to be processed at the time of your appointment. If you're unsure of your level of cover, we recommend checking with your health fund before your appointment.
What happens during my first exercise physiology appointment?
03
Your first appointment begins with a discussion about your medical history, current symptoms, lifestyle, goals and any previous treatment you have received. Your Exercise Physiologist will then complete an assessment of your movement, strength, mobility, balance and physical function where appropriate. Following the assessment, they will explain their findings and recommend an individualised exercise program designed to suit your needs, goals and current level of ability. Depending on your condition, you may begin your exercise program during your first appointment.
