asked plenty of questions each and every day regarding training, weight
loss, membership prices and more. Search through this list of questions
and answers, and if you can't find what you're after, drop us an email..
These
answers are not meant to be taken as specific health and fitness advice.
They are provided merely as guidelines to general questions

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO JOIN? |
|
We
always liken this question to calling up a car yard and asking "How much
for a car?". What would they say...."Which one?"
There are many determinates to the price of a
membership. How long do you want to commit to an exercise program? Can
you afford an upfront, pre-paid membership or would you like an easy
monthly or fortnightly style of payment? Will you be requiring the staff
to give you some regular sit-down assistance?
Questions for your question!! They easiest way to
answer this question is by popping into the centre, or even giving us a
call. Then we can ask you a few questions that might help you to decide
which style of membership suits you.
And by the way, no extra joining fees.

WHAT'S THE BEST WAY TO LOSE
WEIGHT? |

This is a real tough one to answer
concisely!! The best way can depend on the individuals level of health,
their current lifestyle and eating patterns, and also whether the weight
loss is a short or long term goal.
Generally, creating a safe calorie
deficiency each day will force your body to use up its stores of fat.
This can be achieved by increasing your natural metabolism (ability to
burn calories) through regular smaller meals and some weight training to
get the muscles hungry, also reducing your overall calorie intake and
increasing your output through exercise. Still workin' on this answer....remember
that there are plenty of different approaches to fat loss, some
right....some wrong. Be careful how you choose your fat loss direction.
It is always better to consult a professional (like our staff or a
doctor) than to take random advice from friends and colleagues.

HOW BUSY DOES BODYFOCUS GET?

Short answer....No. There's plenty
of equipment and space for everyone. Even at peak times! Workin' on a
better answer....

WHAT DO I HAVE TO WEAR TO
BODYFOCUS? IS IT TRENDY? |
|
Leotards up the bum are still very
popular.
Not!! Most people wear a loose
fitting T-Shirt and shorts. T-shirts with no arms (a muscle shirt?!?)
can feel more comfortable and give more room to move.
Any half-decent pair of trainers
will do for the average gym user, but if you are doing group
fitness classes, or any impact related exercise you should pay more
attention to your feet.

WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN
A PERSONAL PROGRAM AND PERSONAL TRAINING? IS PERSONAL TRAINING INCLUDED? |

YES!!! Both of these terms can be
used loosely!! In general, a Personal Program usually refers to a
session with a gym instructor who will assess your needs and formulate a
specific program for you. They will then take you through the new
routine and demonstrate how it's done. Bodyfocus does this with 90% of
its new members. Simple!
Personal Training is a more
specific kind of assistance provided by staff. In a personal training
session the trainer will complete a full session of exercise with you
whilst you work out, making sure you are performing to a good intensity
so as to maximise results. Personal training is paid for on a session by
session basis.
Be careful when joining any fitness
centre who quotes in their information that personal training is
included with a membership. It may just refer to an initial assessment
and orientation session with a trainer. It can be a little confusing.
Best bet here is to ask exactly what you are getting for your money.

CAN I GET A HEALTH FUND REBATE ON MY FEES? |

Bodyfocus is registered with Fitness Australia and Fitness Queensland.
We are a recognised Health Care Provider with MBF.
Most private health care funds will have a
provision for a rebate on gym fees or other related expenses. We can
provide you with the necessary receipt for any membership fees paid to
us. Unfortunately, the rest is up to you. You will have to contact your
health fund, and possibly see your GP to get a referral before they will
pay you back any funds. We can only provide proof of the money you have
spent. We cannot contact your health fund for you due to privacy
reasons. |
| DO
AEROBICS CLASSES WORK? ARE THEY HARD TO PARTICIPATE IN AS A BEGINNER?

this answer....but the short answer is that classes provide great
motivation. Beginner classes are available, but there is a small chance
that Noddy may make a small and insignificant appearance in your first
class!!
It is important to stay grounded and remember why
you are making the effort to try new things....new things for a new
body! Old things for the same-old same-old!

I'M 55 YEARS OLD. AM I TOO OLD TO JOIN A GYM? |

No. A small portion of your health
and fitness condition is related to age, but your fitness is directly
related to your mobility and activity levels.
Obviously, seeing your GP for a
checkup before starting any exercise program is a great idea. They can
make sure that you have no underlying medical condition that may be
aggravated by certain types of exercise. A good GP will encourage you to
"use it or lose it"!
